Fruitful Futures and the Forsyth Farmers Market are joining forces to create the first annual Savannah Urban Agriculture Festival! The goal of this festival is to empower our community with the skills, knowledge and resources to build a culture of food sovereignty for Coastal Georgia.

Today, the majority of fruits and vegetables consumed in the United States are imported. And most of the fruits and vegetables that are grown in the United States are produced in Southern California, a region that is projected to have some of the worst effects of climate change such as extreme heat and drought.  Additionally, the average age of the American farmer is 65 years old. As American farmers are retiring, they are selling their farmland for top dollar to developers, out of the financial reach of beginning farmers.
