Land Access

The land access area will be a space to share both land needs and land availability for agricultural initiatives, big and small, to help connect beginning and expanding producers with the land they need to grow our food.

Garden Registry

The garden registry will be an area for urban food producers to share information about their initiatives and projects to foster greater collaboration and communication. There will also be an opportunity for gardens to share their surplus harvests

Why is this festival important?

Today, the majority of fruits and vegetables consumed in the United States are imported. And most of the fruits and vegetables that are grown in the United States are produced in Southern California, a region that is projected to have some of the worst effects of climate change such as extreme heat and drought.

Additionally, the average age of the American farmer is 65 years old. As American farmers are retiring, they are selling their farmland for top dollar to developers, out of the financial reach of beginning farmers. As our population continues to grow into the future, who will feed us? Where will our food come from?

The Savannah Urban Agriculture Festival aims to support all levels of local agriculture by empowering our communities with the skills, resources and knowledge to grow food!
